Hi all
In May 2023, my usual team of 4 headed to Alexandria to check out Social Escape Room’s latest room, Bellamy’s Booty. We have played all of the other rooms at Social Escape Rooms over the years and always enjoy ourselves. And I am a sucker for a pirate themed room (I am still holding out for a licensed Goonies room to open up one day)….
Bellamy’s Booty was our 225th room to date. The summary of the room from their website is as follows:
The dread pirate Captain Sam Bellamy has managed to obtain a booty unlike any ever seen by mortal men. But tonight, he and his men are ashore, celebrating their success and spending their ill-gotten gains. Any enterprising pirate, such as yourself, could sneak aboard and get your hands on Bellamy's Booty, if you're quick enough!
Here is what I thought of Bellamy (and his booty):
· the room
was themed really nicely. The wall
treatments were awesome, as were the props used throughout (which all made
sense in the space and followed the backstory well);
· as always
with Social Escape Rooms, there were a lot of puzzles to get through in the 60
minute experience. The puzzles were all
quite varied and interesting and satisfying to solve. There was a nice amount
of hunt and seek fun too;
·
the
puzzles all made sense and suited the theme well. The only other comment I have in relation to
the puzzles is that there was one puzzle that felt a little forced for lack of
a better word - we didn’t quite solve the puzzle as intended during our experience (which didn’t
ultimately matter as the solution provided a hint to something we had already
found). But when the solution was explained afterwards, we
understood the intent but it didn’t feel quite as elegant as the other puzzles
throughout the room; and
· as always, owner Mark took us through the room after we escaped, explaining each puzzle and discussing their design, which was great.
We always enjoy our experiences at Social Escape Rooms and this time was no different. Bellamy’s Booty is a fun pirate-themed escape with challenging puzzles and really nice theming.
