Hi all
In February 2021, my wife and I took our girls back to Scram to play one of their new rooms, Underland, at their Church Street, Parramatta premises. We had previously played their new Toy Rescue room, as well as 2 of the rooms at Scram’s other venue (at O’Connell Street).
Underland was my 166th room to date. The theme of the room is as follows:
The Queen of Hearts lost her heart to The Mad Hatter in a game of Whack-a-Hog. Distraught and angered by her loss The Queen has taken her revenge on the Hatter by stealing three things precious to him. You will need to travel through Underland and all its obstacles to ask the Queen for mercy.
Here’s what we thought about Underland:
- much like Toy Rescue, the quality of the theming at Scram’s new premises has clearly lifted compared to its earlier rooms at its O’Connell premises. The theming is much more prominent and clearly a lot of time and effort has been spent;
- Underland is clearly aimed at newer players and families and the difficulty level over all is easier than most rooms. We largely let our daughters solve the puzzles and I think we escaped in about half the allowed time;
- there are some cool puzzles in Underland, including some spaces that are really visually impressive; and
- we didn’t have any issues with any of the puzzles in Underland – they all made sense and worked for us. All of the props all made sense in the space as well. My only suggestion is that given that we escaped in about half of the allowed time, I think the room would benefit from an additional puzzle or two.
As always, the measure of a good room is whether or not we had fun. Our daughters certainly did. Whilst our daughters were ok with the dark spaces in this room, not all children would be (so that’s something to consider if you plan on bringing young children to play Underland).
