Escape of the Werewolf - Fully immersive scare experience - Sydney (Updated)

SORRY FOLKS - IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A SCAM AFTER ALL.  THE OWNERS RAN THIS ESCAPE IN MELBOURNE AND RECEIVED SCATHING REVIEWS.  THEY ALSO CANCELLED A NUMBER OF SHOWS, IT WAS POORLY ORGANISED AND CHEAP.

I CONTACTED SYDNEY SHOW GROUNDS, THE VENUE FOR THE SYDNEY SHOW, TO CONFIRM IT WAS STILL GOING AHEAD.  THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE EVENT IS CANCELLED AND THE SPACE IS NO LONGER BEING RENTED BY THE WEREWOLF ESCAPE PEOPLE.  DESPITE THIS, I HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED BY THE OWNERS AND THEY STILL HAVE MY MONEY FROM THE TICKET SALES.

I'VE LODGED A REFUND REQUEST THROUGH PAYPAL.  DO NOT BUY TICKETS TO THIS SHONKY EVENT.

***UPDATE - I HAVE NOW RECEIVED MY REFUND THROUGH PAYPAL, THANKFULLY.

Hi all

I thought I would post about Escape of the Werewolf because it looks like it might be fun and might appeal to other escape room lovers, even though it is not a true escape room.

It is a "fully immersive scare experience".  It is only running for one week in mid July 2015 in Sydney and will be located somewhere near Sydney Olympic Park.  The theme is as follows:

"Your tour begins in the labs of Lycadine Industries, where, as your guide is showing you the facilities, things start to go very wrong.  As people around you get slaughtered, you have to find your way out of Lycadine, before you too fall prey to the Werewolf.  The lights WILL go out, there WILL be screaming, and you WILL get sprayed with blood."

I've been to a couple of Hollywood Horror Nights in Universal Studios and if this experience is like that, then it is going to be incredibly scary.  It's not for the faint of heart (seriously, I bet you'll be grabbing the stranger beside you for the whole experience and will probably have nightmares afterwards).  I've actually downplayed the scare factor to my group of friends and I've already booked the tickets (so they can't back out when they find out more ;-)

Check out their website here if you're interested.  Tickets for the Sydney experience went on sale this morning and given that it only runs for a week, I'd bet they will run out fast.

This experience is either going to be really naff or awesome - fingers crossed.

  1. I'm getting worried this might be a scam? Do you have any information about it? or have you actually spoken to anyone who's actually done it? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153040595920390&set=o.671668506275389&type=1&theater

    1. I hadn't heard that it was a scam and I really hope it isn't. Thanks for letting me know. I'll report back here if I hear one way or the other.

    2. hehe, no problems! I was about to buy 10 tickets and started seeing some of those messages popping up by people who have paid but haven't received tickets yet and nobody is responding to their messages, etc. I also hope it isn't a scam! but thought I better be weary just until I hear some more positive communication from the organisers :p

    3. Ok, I've received my tickets. The only issue is that the tickets don't have a venue. I've been in contact with the event organisers and they tell me that they have booked pavilion space at Sydney Showgrounds for the event. I've written to Sydney Showgrounds to confirm whether this is correct and I'll report back here once I hear from them.

    4. Ok, so I've gotten to the bottom of this. The short answer is that it is all above board. I've received an email from Sydney Showgrounds confirming that Escape of the Werewolf has booked pavilion space there in July for this event. So it's definitely not a scam!

    5. Hi Scott! yep, in the last couple of days they've started replying to everybody on social media and people have started to receive their tickets! They apologised and said they were "missing in action" because of the overwhelming response and they didn't have enough staff. I've bought my tickets already!

  3. This is a scam. They ran their Melbourne escape in May. They had nothing but awful reviews, they cancelled shows and then deleted their Facebook pages.

Sydney Showgrounds lists the Sydney Werewolf Escape Event as "Cancelled", even though the owner has not informed ticket holders. I've lodged a refund request through PayPal.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
